Dr. Daniel Sperling is Professor of Civil Engineering and Environmental Science and Policy, and founding Director of the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis. He is a leading expert on transportation technology assessment, energy and environmental aspects of transportation, and transportation policy. In the past 20 years, Sperling has authored or co-authored over 200 technical papers and eight books, and served on 10 National Academies committees that have produced reports on Hydrogen, Transport in China, and Biomass Fuels R&D. He is a founding chair and emeritus member of the Alternative Transportation Fuels Committee of the U.S. Transportation Research Board. Sperling serves on many advisory committees and advises senior executives of many automotive and energy companies, environmental groups, and national governments. He earned a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. |
