Chatham Bay Captain William Thompson reportedly buried the Great Treasure of Lima in this bay, the island's premier anchorage. If the last words of fellow pirates the night before their execution are to be believed, Benito "Bloody Sword" Bonito also hid 273 gold-hilted swords, 783 ingots of gold, and a gold crown studded with emeralds and diamonds in the deep jungle here (see Legends and Lore).
