Submerged Rock
Like commuters in a busy train station, squirrelfish, yellow goatfish, and
blue-striped snapper jostle one another in a dark tunnel 80 feet beneath this
surface hazard. The photographer Georgienne Bradley saw her first whale shark
here. "Instead of being frightened by the divers, he seemed intrigued," she
wrote in Skin Diver magazine (9/94). "He circled continuously, pausing
on each pass to scratch his back and sides on the boat's anchorchain."
