This program presents an emotionally charged debate among the
specialists who argued about the cause of Genie's condition and
the best treatment to use with her.

To give your students an experience with multiple perspectives
on an issue, copy and distribute the "Other Options" student
handout. When the class has completed the activity, ask pairs of
students to compare their solutions. Talk with students about
how some problems can have more than one possible solution.

The purpose of this activity is to give students a structure for
organizing a wide range of explanations or causes for an event or
phenomenon. This visual organizer can be adapted to any situation in
which students need to consider many causal factors. With regard to
the UFO, students should be encouraged to generate a list of other
possibilities, such as helicopters or other aircraft, strobe lights,
reflections of other objects, and so on. Accept any reasonable
            options.
