Federico Rossano is an Associate Professor of Cognitive Science at UC San Diego and director of the Comparative Cognition Lab. He leads the world's largest study of button-trained pets, and his research is featured in the NOVA documentary Can Dogs Talk? In this episode he joins Hakeem to discuss his record-setting study of talking dogs, what primate research reveals about the roots of communication, and how AI could help scientists finally decode what animals are trying to say.
