Another Israeli UAV innovation, the remotely controlled Firebird 2001
can deliver real-time, highly accurate information on a wildfire's
size, speed, perimeter, and movement using a slew of technologies, including
global positioning system technology, geographic information systems mapping,
and forward-looking infrared cameras. Wildfire scientists in the U.S. are
currently testing Firebird, invented in 1996, for use in fire management.
