Dante's Purgatory
PURGATORY
In Purgatory, the sinner finds his or her place in the hierarchy according to one of the seven deadly sins. Each sin springs from a person's failure to recognize the freeing nature of love. Dante categorizes the sins as perversions of love: pride, envy, and wrath exemplify evil love; sloth, not enough love; avarice, gluttony, and lust as too much love.
