America<\/span>‘s aging water infrastructure systems–some in the ground for more than 100 years–are neglected and in dire need of national and local attention.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Though largely out of sight and out of mind, these drinking water, wastewater and stormwater systems provide the basis for public health and safety, economic prosperity, and quality of life.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Liquid Assets: The Story of Our Water Infrastructure<\/span><\/em> explores the looming crisis underneath our feet and how ten cities and towns (<\/span>Atlanta<\/span>, <\/span>Boston<\/span>, <\/span>Herminie<\/span>, <\/span>PA<\/span>, <\/span>Las Vegas<\/span>, <\/span>Los Angeles<\/span>, <\/span>Milwaukee<\/span>, <\/span>New York<\/span> City, <\/span>Philadelphia<\/span>, <\/span>\"\"<\/a>Pittsburgh<\/span>, <\/span>Washington<\/span>, D.C.) are trying to meet the challenges.\u00a0 While the public takes system reliability for granted, cities must find the funds to rebuild eroding systems, separate sewer and stormwater flows, and protect the watershed.\u00a0 Industry and environmental experts, government officials, front-line water workers and citizens reveal how their communities are working to ensure the viability of water infrastructure assets. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The 90-minute documentary, produced by Penn State Public Broadcasting (WPSU), will be available nationwide to all public broadcasting stations beginning <\/span>October 1, 2008<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
