Children’s Defense Fund Helping Students “Beat the Odds”

Students dealing with poverty, abuse, and instability at home often have a harder time achieving academic success and going on to higher education. The non-profit Children’s Defense Fund- New York advocates for children’s rights to education, health, safety and equity. Our partners at MetroFocus look at the organization’s Beat the Odds scholarship program, which recognizes a handful of students who have overcome tremendous obstacles.
