Low-Income Renters Become New Homeowners Through Newark Program
On Tuesday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Newark honored four low-income renters chosen by lottery to become first-time homeowners. The Newark Land Bank Section 8 Homeownership Conversion Program transforms formerly blighted properties into homes and awards them to a select few that qualify for a mortgage through the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America.
