In his most recent book, Legacies of the War on Poverty, Danziger and his colleagues take an empirical approach to debunking the common refrain that the war on poverty has been lost, and show that without anti-poverty programs like Medicare, Medicaid and food stamps, many more Americans would be living in poverty.
