Many different artists have included Lincoln\u2019s deathbed scene in their work, each featuring different people at Lincoln\u2019s bedside. Some paintings show a small crowd, while others (such as Image B) show a very big crowd in a room that is much larger than the actual room in which Lincoln died. The actual room in which Lincoln died (as shown in Image A) was a very small room on the first floor of a boarding house across the street from Ford\u2019s Theater, the place where John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln. Due to Lincoln\u2019s height, he had to be placed diagonally on the bed in order to fit. Some of the works of art that show the deathbed scene feature people who actually visited Lincoln when he was dying, while others include people who never came to visit Lincoln on his deathbed. Although people entered the small room at different times while Lincoln lay there (from the night of April 14, 1865, when he was shot, to the morning of April 15, 1865, when he died), many of the works of art show all the mourners there at the same time. <\/p>\n
