This symphony of Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) was first performed in Munich, Germany, in 1901. The first movement translates as “deliberately, not rushed.” Zubin Mehta conducted this recording of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra featuring Barbara Hendricks, Soprano, and Chaim Taub, solo violin, in 1979.
