Usually when people are dreamers and have the strength of their convictions, something gets established, and that\u2019s what happened.\u201d Huberman established the Palestine Symphony Orchestra in 1936, which today is over seven decades old in the form of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the national orchestra of Israel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuberman established something idealistic that also helped others. He had a real sense of moral obligation to rescue others,\u201d  says Leon Botstein. \u201cHuberman dreamed that Israel would become a European, cultured, cosmopolitan Jewish state in the Middle East.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Itzhak Perlman marvels at Huberman\u2019s strength of belief in his dream that melded music and politics. \u201cThe intensity of what he wanted to establish, whether it\u2019s musical, political, whether it\u2019s both\u2014in this case it was both\u2014it\u2019s absolutely remarkable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Orchestra of Exiles<\/em> premieres Sunday, April 14 at 10
