Seahorses: How Climate Change and Overfishing Affect the Superdad of the Sea
Known for monogamous relationships and male pregnancies, the seahorse was the Ocean Conservancy’s 2019 Father of the Year. But the ocean’s superdad is currently under threat from overfishing, mainly to supply curios, aquariums, and the needs of traditional medicine. Climate change only stands to make matters worse.
On this episode of The Sweaty Penguin, explore why seahorses are important, what factors are driving steep population declines in seahorse species, and where we go from here. With special guest Dr. Sarah Krejci, Assistant Professor of Biology and Environmental Science at Bethune-Cookman University.
