Monarch Butterflies: What’s Next for the IUCN’s New Endangered Species

Monarch butterflies are a scientifically unique, economically valuable, and culturally significant species. But monarchs are now under threat from climate change, habitat loss, pesticides and other factors. In recent weeks the International Union for the Conservation of Nature officially declared the monarch butterfly an endangered species.
