How Can Soy Reduce Its Environmental Impact?
Soy is a staple in vegan diets, also an ingredient in most of the processed foods we eat, as well as being fed to the animals that we eat. But intensive agricultural practices such as pesticide use and deforestation have created a number of environmental issues around the soy crop. As the world’s leading soy producer, Brazil has been at the center of discussions about agriculture-driven deforestation. This episode of “The Sweaty Penguin” explores the climate impact of soy and what can be done to make the crop more sustainable. With special guest Dr. Raoni Rajão, Professor in Social Studies of Science at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais.
