Fracking in Pennsylvania Brings Pollution and Economic Disappointment
The Marcellus Shale – a 90,000 square-mile natural gas formation spanning Pennsylvania, West Virginia, New York, Ohio, and Maryland – is home to the second-highest emitting oil and gas project in the world. This project has done little to economically support the surrounding communities. But it has led to air and water pollution.
This episode of “The Sweaty Penguin” explores the challenges caused by fracking in the Marcellus Shale. It also looks at how this region can become more economically prosperous and a better friend to the local and global environment.
Featuring special guest Dr. Dave Yoxtheimer, Assistant Research Professor of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Pennsylvania State University.
