An Analysis of the EPA’s New Emissions Standards
On April 12, 2023 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced vehicle emissions standards requiring auto companies to lower the average carbon dioxide emissions significantly by 2032.
A month later the EPA announced emissions standards for coal and natural gas power plants. According to these standards, coal plants would have to capture 90 percent by 2030, and natural gas plants would have to capture 90 percent of their emissions by 2035.
