How Can Faith Bridge the Gap to Understanding Climate Change?
Faith plays a large role in Anita Chitaya’s life. In addition to her work as a farmer, community organizer, and activist, she is a leader in her church in Bwabwa, Malawi. She once dreamed of becoming a nun, and she believes that it is our collective responsibility to care for God’s creation.
Anita travels to the U.S. with her mentor, Esther Lupafya, to talk with Americans about climate change. In Iowa, she meets with the Jackson family at their farm. While Anita, Esther, and the Jacksons share similar Christian beliefs, they differ in their views on climate change and stewardship. The episode invites viewers to consider the complexities of climate change and the urgent need for collective accountability in safeguarding our planet.
This is the fourth episode of “The Ants & the Grasshopper: The Series,” a co-production of Kartemquin Educational Films and Peril and Promise, a public media initiative from The WNET Group.
