How Can Electric Vehicles Overcome Their Limitations?
Electric vehicles have often been the focus of a clean transportation transition, due to their cheaper operating costs, and reduced air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional cars. Leading auto manufacturers have set ambitious targets to transition sales to EVs, and policymakers have followed with regulations and tax incentives.
But electric vehicles aren’t perfect yet. Questions remain about environmental and human rights issues in metal mining, the capacity of the electric grid, and their high sticker prices. This episode of “The Sweaty Penguin” explores what possibilities electric vehicles present, what challenges stand in the way, and how those hurdles can be overcome. Featuring special guest Dr. Al-Thaddeus Avestruz, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan.
