I Historic Synagogue<\/a> in Washington, DC explains the meaning of the Amidah, \u201cthe central prayer in the Jewish tradition.\u201d We also visit a Friday night service at Sixth &amp; I led by Rabbi Scott Perlo and Jewish music pioneer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rickrecht.com\">Rick Recht<\/a>, as well as a prayer service at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.magendavidsephardic.org\/\">Magen David Sephardic Congregation<\/a>, a modern Orthodox synagogue in Rockville, Maryland, to see the ways the Amidah is prayed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cIt is considered the time in the prayer service where we are most open spiritually, and we\u2019re really ready to talk to God,\u201d says Rabbi Shira Stutman, senior rabbi at Sixth &amp;
