1980
While
Jimmy Carter played the outsider in 1976, in 1980 he was in the seat of power.
His ads portrayed him as a dedicated president working all hours on the unresolved
problems of a troubled economy and American hostages held in Iran. To voters
the problems seemed too large for the hard-working president and they chose
the more easy-going Ronald Reagan.
