1994 The
use of "morphing"--technology that allows a seamless transformation
of one image into another-- was widespread in ads for congressional seats.
Candidates turned their opponent's picture into an image of an unpopular party
leader.
Democrats'
were morphed into Bill Clinton, Republicans into Newt Gingrich.
Republicans
scored a huge victory taking the majority of Congress. Many in the House races
campaigned under the "Contract With America" agenda that Newt Gingrich
developed and published in "TV Guide."
