Production Company

Great Projects Film Company, Inc., an independent film and video company based in New York City, primarily produces documentaries for national television broadcast on PBS and cable. Founded in 1988, the Emmy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated Great Projects produces programs that explore subjects of historical, technological, and cultural significance.

About the Filmmakers

Kenneth Mandel Consulting Producer, Executive Producer
Ken Mandel, co-founder of Great Projects, is currently executive producer of Resistance, a one-hour special about armed Jewish resistance to the Nazis, and Great Projects: The Building of America, a four-part series for PBS broadcast in 2001. He was producer of The Trial of Adolf Eichmann (PBS/1997); executive producer of Picasso Paints Picasso (PBS/1998) and An Essay on Matisse (PBS/1996); and producer/director of George Marshall and the American Century (PBS/1993), which won an Emmy for Outstanding Historical Program.

Daniel A. Miller Producer, Writer, Director
Daniel A. Miller has worked with Great Projects Film Company since 1994. In 1997, he co-produced the Emmy-nominated The Trial Of Adolf Eichmann and co-produced and wrote Eichmann's A&E Biography. Miller also produced Paul H. Nitze: Reflections of A Cold Warrior (1996), a one-hour documentary narrated by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer. Miller was associate producer Peabody Award-winning series City Arts and the PBS series Media Matters. Miller is currently producing The Virgin and the Dynamo: The Electrification of America, a one-hour PBS documentary that will air as part of the Great Projects series.

Daniel B. Polin - Producer, Writer, Executive Producer
Dan Polin, who founded Great Projects in 1988, has been producing films for more than two decades. Recent projects include The Empire State Building (Discovery/1999), The Trial of Adolf Eichmann (PBS/1997), and He Conquered Space: The Story of Wernher von Braun (Discovery/1996). He was executive producer Michelangelo, Restored (PBS/1998) and An Essay on Matisse (PBS/1996), which was nominated for an Academy Award. He won an Emmy for George Marshall and the American Century (PBS/1993).

T.O. Sterrett Original Music and Song Arrangements
Mr. Sterrett has composed music for the series Another World, Tales From the Darkside, Monsters, A&E Biography, and Media Matters as well as for many Great Projects' productions. He also scored the upcoming new feature film by Roko Markolovic, Till Death Does Us Part. Mr. Sterrett has appeared in Carnegie Hall as pianist for Shirley Bassey and has performed with Marin Mazzie, Leslie Uggams, Petula Clark, Nell Carter, Carol Channing, Marilyn Horne, and many others. He is the pianist and Second Assistant Conductor for the Broadway production of Cats and has been Music Director for Katey Sagal, Liz Callaway, Jean Stapleton and many more. His commissions for concert works have included the Northeastern Dance Festival, flutist and Naumberg-Award winner Zizi Mueller, and New York Philharmonic
