imperial hotel

right’s interest in technical innovation continued in Tokyo. The hotel’s foundation was designed to float structurally allowing it—in Wright’s terms—to balance like a tray on a waiter’s fingertips. This innovation allowed the hotel to survive the devastating earthquake of 1923.
