National Geophysical Data Center, NOAA.
This locator
map shows the areas in Western Alaska where the 3
fly throughs below take place: Kodiak, Dutch Harbor
and Port Clarence. In the fly through of the South Central/Gulf
Coast Region you start about 15 miles east of Kodiak, Alaska and slowly
head south into remote Kizhuyak Bay. This image
shows the path of the fly through for Kodiak
Island. The image below is a
preview of the fly through and shows Kodiak Island as it
might appear from the ground-level perspective of a member
of the Harriman Expedition.
A fly through of the Alaska Peninsula
and Aleutians Region takes you 15 miles south-southwest through rough
seas into Unalaska Bay past the ports of Dutch Harbor and Unalaska. This image
shows the path of the fly through for Dutch
Harbor. The image below is a preview of the
fly through and shows the South Alaska Peninsula and Aleutians Region
as it might appear from the ground-level perspective of a member of the
Harriman Expedition.
The fly through of the Bering Sea
Coast Region begins late in the day about 15 miles northwest of Port Clarence,
slowly paralleling the coast to give you a glimpse of the vast, harsh
interior of Alaska. This image
shows the path of the fly through for Port
Clarence. The image below is a preview of the
fly through and shows the Seward Peninsula, Bering Sea Coast Region as
it might appear from the ground-level perspective of a member of the Harriman
Expedition.
