A
longtime member of Newark Beth Israel's medical staff, Dr. Brief
served as its President from 1982-85. In his current role, he remains
deeply involved in medical affairs, teaching and research at Newark
Beth Israel. Dr. Brief joined Beth Israel's medical staff in 1964.
From 1967-69 Dr. Brief served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, where
he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served as Chief of
General Surgery at the 24th Evacuation Hospital in South Vietnam.
He was awarded the Bronze Star in 1969.

discharged. This includes working with insurance companies and physicians
to make sure the patients receive appropriate tests and treatments
