Chronic conditions make for an array of challenges for patients and their families. Insurance coverage is key, and many elderly patients and professional caregivers find Medicare lacking when an acute condition has stabilized and they are left with disabling chronic problem. Equally important, however, is education and counseling for caregivers who are often unprepared for the degree of sacrifice involved.
