Meet the Expedition Team
Dr. Jeff Goodyear, President, HABIT Research
Dr. Jeff Goodyear, founder and president of HABIT (Human Animal Biotelemetry Instrumentation Technology) Research, has been studying animals and their behavior for 25 years. But when he wanted to track gray whale migration, he couldn't find any equipment that would do the trick. So Jeff invented his own solution. Tracking gray whales along their migration route is not an easy task. They travel long distances, and they move in a three-dimensional ocean world. But using technology, Jeff took on the challenge. He created a tagging system using VHF radio and satellites that allows researchers to track gray whale cow-calf pairs and juvenile gray whales during their migration.
