Meet the Expedition Team
John Calambokidis, Research Biologist, Cascadia Research Collective
Co-founder of Cascadia Research Collective, John Calambokidis researches all kinds of marine life. During the filming of The Gray Whale Obstacle Course, he shared his expertise on gray whale behavior, the Makah whaling history and the residency patterns of gray whales in Washington waters -- but his marine experience runs much deeper. He has coordinated a study of humpback whale abundance by using photography, examined movements of blue whales in the North Pacific, studied habitat preferences of harbor porpoises and evaluated trends in contaminant levels of harbor seals. John has also published more than 30 research studies and has written award-winning guides to marine mammals.
