Meet the Expedition Team
Dr. Jorge Urban, Professor, Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur
In Magdalena Bay, Mexico, Dr. Jorge Urban shared his expertise on whale migration and lagoons with the Cousteau team and took biopsies of tagged whales for future research. Jorge's specialty is the marine mammals of Mexico, and he has shared his research in presentations at more than 60 international meetings and by publishing numerous papers. Jorge helps research and protect whales through his work with the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the International Whaling Commission. He also coordinates the Marine Mammal Research Program at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. He earned his Ph.D. from the Universidad Nacional de México.
