Feeding bears in the park was a popular activity for nearly a hundred years. The result: tourists got hurt and "problem" bears had to be put down. Park biologists like George Melendez Wright and Adolph Murie eventually got the Park Service to change policies and let the bears – and other wildlife – exist in a more natural state.
