At Denali National Park, Murie, a park biologist, conducted the first indepth study of wolves and concluded that they were essential to the ecological equilibrium of the area, not the scourge many people – including Park Service personnel – considered them. His views would eventually prevail, and park policies began protecting predators rather than eliminating them.
