The Mississippi: River of Song

Interactive Website

This interactive Website for River of Song was launched in September 1998 to coincide with the public events being held along the Mississippi. As an integral part of the River of Song project, the Website enhances the music and story presented in the TV and radio programs. The Website offers supporting information, such as:
  • Artist profiles with accompanying photographs, video interviews, audio clips and discographies
  • An interactive map pinpointing the location of each of the artists featured in the series
  • Detailed descriptions of the four geographical sections of the Mississippi River featured in the project plus articles and Website links providing geographic and cultural information about this part of the country
  • An interactive Teacher's Guide that can be used as a tool for cross-disciplinary teaching opportunities
  • Project production and broadcast information
  • A press room, which includes press releases, articles and a media kit
The Website was designed and developed by RainCastle Communications, Inc. of Newton, Massachusetts in collaboration with The Filmmakers Collaborative. RainCastle is a full-service, all-media design and marketing studio specializing in corporate identity, interactive Websites and annual reports.
The following RainCastle designers played significant roles in the design and development of this Website: Jennifer McPhilimy, Abel Lenz, Rotem Meller, Gregg Lavine, Carri Millaney and Micheline Bouju. Michelle Chambers was the project manager for the project. Leah Mahan, co-producer of River of Song, coordinated the production of the Website for The Filmmakers Collaborative.
