MIRANDA, June 30, 2004 The best part of the season was playing the games. The worst part of the season was our last game. That’s when me and my great team parted. We had never lost all season. Even though I took practice classes at the Baseball Center, I had a great coach Bob. He really knows how to get you into the game—like warming you up with a few games of catch, which is fun and then you have some batting practice and then some fielding and before you know it it’s game time. In our last game, the other team was ahead 10 – 0. Bob told us not to be discouraged and get out there and hit our hardest. And that’s what we did. It’s like we were sneaking up on them, and then we finally got ahead of them. Two of my friends were on that team, the Thunderbolts. They were really good.
For next year, I’m looking forward to playing another season of baseball and actually getting to pitch! It’s going to be hard being a catcher and a batter because the pitcher will be trying to throw really hard to get the batter out. Now, the coaches pitch so that you can hit.

AMY, June 30, 2004 This season was totally exciting for me for many reasons. Miranda’s team had a number of strong players, and they all worked very well together. The difference in their skills from last year was very noticeable. They are able to focus much better, and they can really field the ball! I loved seeing Miranda’s pride when she got a hit or scored. And she maintained her composure when she struck out—even though that is SO disappointing and frustrating. As the season progressed, some of the kids on the team felt a lot of pressure to maintain their undefeated status. That tension reached a climax going into the final game. It would have been more realistic to have lost one or two along the way, but it was pretty thrilling to be winners. Her coaches were phenomenal. They gave so much to the kids and really were a large part of the success.
