Dick Martin and Dan Rowan formed a comedy team in the mid-1950s as Rowan and Martin, and they were together for over 25 years. They played nightclubs and theaters all over the world including the Copacabana in New York City, Chez Paree in Chicago, Fountainbleu in Miami Beach, Chevron Hilton in Sydney and the Palladium Theater in London.
The duo did two movies, Once Upon a Horse and The Maltese Bippy. Dick Martin also appeared with Doris Day in The Glass Bottom Boat. On television, Rowan and Martin appeared on every variety show including The Ed Sullivan Show, The Dean Martin Show, The Perry Como Show and The Hollywood Palace.
In 1967, they did an NBC special called Rowan and Martin's Laugh In, and in 1968 the Rowan and Martin's Laugh In series appeared on Monday night at 8 p.m. and became the number one show on television.
Dan Rowan retired in 1975, and Dick Martin has been very active as a director.
