Established as the
provincial capital of Spanish New Mexico in 1610,
Santa Fe became the site of the Pueblo Revolt in 1680.
In the centuries that followed its reconquest by Spain in 1692,
Santa Fe was the hub of commerce and government in the southwest,
and the center for trade with the east via the Santa Fe Trail.
