Historical Document Anthony Burns speaks 1855 |

Click here for the text of this historical document. Anthony Burns, a slave who fled Virginia to find freedom in Boston, only to be captured and returned to slavery, spoke at a black church in New York in February of 1855. In this speech he gives his own account of the capture.
