 Outside the Classroom

Find ways to form connections with scientists in your community.

There are many ways to find authentic science opportunities outside the classroom. Contact local museums, aquariums, and zoos to find out about science education opportunities in your community. In addition, some local universities and private companies may welcome a field trip to see science at work. The following links can spark interest, help ground science in the real world, and foster connections to science researchers in the field:

•

The JASON Project takes a multimedia approach to teaching science including a Web site, print curriculum, and teacher development materials.

•

Classroom Connect's Quest Project keeps students connected to researchers in the field.

•

With Journey North, classrooms across the country track the journey of migratory species.
