Michael B. Grogan is the president of Grogan & Company, a firm specializing in fine-art auctions and appraisals. The firm is based in Dedham, Massachusetts, and was established in 1987.

Mr. Grogan began his career in the art business at Sotheby's, New York, in 1978 when he joined them as a specialist in oriental carpets. The following year he became head of the Oriental Carpets department. In 1982 he was appointed director of Sotheby's Arcade Auctions, in charge of organizing biweekly auctions of paintings, jewelry, furniture, and decorative arts. In 1985, Mr. Grogan was appointed director of Sotheby's Appraisal Company. He left Sotheby's as a vice president of the firm to establish Grogan & Company.

Mr. Grogan is a graduate of Boston College, where he majored in art history. He is an auctioneer and has also given many lectures on the subject of fine arts and antiques at auction.
