Thomas Lecky Tom Lecky joined Christie's Book department as vice president and specialist in printed books in 1999. Tom is a specialist in printed books with particular strengths in travel and historical Americana, as well as English and American literature. Tom has worked on some of the most significant collections to come on the market in recent years: the Fox-Bute set of Audubon's Birds of America, which currently holds the world-record price for a printed book at auction; Captain Cook and His Circle; the Helmut N. Friedlaender Library (early printed books, science, and literature); the Library of Abel E. Berland (English literature and early printed books); the Estelle Doheny Collection from St. Mary's of the Barrens, Perryville, Missouri (early printed books, Bibles, and American literature); Masterpieces of Modern Literature: The Library of Roger Rechler; and the Estate of Mary, Viscountess Eccles (English literature including Shakespeare). He has additionally been responsible for the collection of books relating to the American West from the Katherine H. Haley Trust at Rancho Mi Solar, Ojai, California, the sale of Roosevelt-family material, "The Roosevelt Era," and the groundbreaking sale "The Origins of Cyberspace," the first auction exclusively devoted to the history of the computer. In June 2005 Tom worked extensively on the Jay T. Snider Collection of Historical Americana, one of the most important sales of printed Americana to come to auction. Tom also is an auctioneer at Christie's.

Prior to joining Christie's, Tom served as director of the Books and Prints departments at William Doyle Galleries in New York, and was also one of the firm's principal auctioneers. Tom was educated at Choate Rosemary Hall, Columbia College (B.A. English), and Stanford University (M.A. American literature).
