Sara C. Wishart joined Skinner in 1998. She is Skinner's leading expert in fine silver, and is a knowledgeable and seasoned generalist appraiser. As a member of the European Furniture & Decorative Arts department, Sara researches and catalogues decorative arts and furniture for the department's four sales per year.
As Deputy Director of Fine Books & Manuscripts, Sara has been actively involved in the growth of the department. The department handles all variety of historical documents, letters, broadsides, books, natural history prints, atlases, and maps, and regularly achieves record-breaking prices. The department handles appraisals of material for private collectors as well as libraries, historical societies, and other institutions.
As a generalist appraiser, Sara appraises a broad spectrum of objects for private owners and institutions, and evaluates and selects material for various Skinner auctions throughout the year. Sara is a regular appraiser on ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, and also participates in numerous benefit appraisal days for non-profit and arts institutions. Her education includes a B.A. from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont and an M.Phil (M.A.) in Furniture and Decorative Arts from the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
