Courtyard Garden Schedule

museum two
The courtyard presents an almost perfect blend of architecture, ornament and organic elements — a space that is both a museum and a living garden. Here, the striking combination of delicate Abutilon and deep-blue Cineraria set off a graceful statuary.

January through February
Jasmine Trees, Azaleas, and Cyclamen

March
Cineraria, Calla Lilies and Orange Trees

April
Azaleas, a variety of Spring bulb materials, Calla Lilies, Cineraria and Hanging Nasturtiums

May
Hydrangeas, Martha Washington Geraniums, Cape Primrose and Tree Ferns

June
Delphinium and Hydrangeas

museum five
The courtyard garden display is rotated every four to six weeks. To support this impressive schedule of constant change, the museum maintains a 6,000-square-foot greenhouse directly behind the main building, where all the plants and flowers are cultivated and nurtured when not on display.

July
Delphinium, Agapanthus, Hydrangeas and Fuchsia Trees

August through September
A variety of Campanula and Jerusalem Cherries

October through November
Different kinds of Chrysanthemums and Coleus

December
Poinsettas, Azaleas, Cyclamen, Winter Berries and Heather Trees

Throughout the year, a variety of foliage plants complement the flowering plants.
