For all of us who could not be in New York to see this wonderful tribute, thanks to PBS for making it available. I hope it is the complete 4 1/2 hour concert, not an abreviated one cut short because of time contraints.

  2. Joan Will says:

I’m trying to find the concert on our local PBS channel; Charter can’t even find it…can you help?

If any of you need the schedule for the PBS Pete Seeger Birthday special with Pete, Arlo Guthrie and a folksinger rabble, this may be helpful:

    http://www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/schedule/

They have a box that delivers the local schedule by zip code. They are also streaming videos of the event at that site.

Arlo fans may not appreciate PBS never mentioning his appearance or photos of him.

  4. Tzena Tzena says:

Pete is a communitarian (hint?) in the best sense of the word. From his dad, to the Almanacs, to the Weavers, to the blacklisting Nixonians, to the civil rights era, to the American wars of aggression upon Vietnam and Iraq; this man has defended liberty in the tradition of the American Revolution. May he live as an example to those who wimp out to the system.

  5. Wendy says:

Can we purchase a recording of the concert?

  6. mac says:

Is there complete list of performances and performers? There is quick flash of song and singers for each song but it flashes quickly and we need a good record of this wonderful event.

  7. Tim Mehren says:

Buy 2 DVDs of this when they’re available because you’ll wear out one right away. Even Oscar the Grouch was smiling!

  8. Lemastre says:

I, too, would like to see the entire event. We got maybe an hour of it, what with the pledge-driving interruptions. I would have liked to be introduced to the various musicians who participated. A good many were not Pete’s contemporaries and are unknown to me. Also, I missed seeing Ronnie Gilbert and Fred Hellerman, members of the Weavers, who I believe are still living on the West Coast. In their eighties now.

  9. Sheri says:

Can the entire show be purchased ANYWHERE???? I just GOTTA get it!!!!

  10. Christine Sweeney says:

Dave Matthews shines!! Incredible performance and the picture of his belly…icing on the cake !

  11. Evelyn Thompson says:

How can I purchase the DVD of the Pete Seeger Birthday Celebration and if it will be aired again, when in Kansas City Missouri

  12. Gerty Bataille, a sailor of Clearwater from Amsterdam, The Netherlands says:

Having been a member of Hudson River Sloop Clearwater for many years, I enjoyed the songs of this concert that PBS put on the site very much. It made the ocean that is between the U.S.A. and The Netherlands a little smaller for me for some time. So for all the music, peace and sails for a better environment that you have given to the people: Thank you Pete! Happy 90th Birthday! I know that Clearwater will be celebrating her 40th year this year.
We will continue to sail on for the people and a better environment. We must. On the Hudson River, in The Netherlands again too, one day, I hope, …. and all around the world. All it takes is people, music and peace … and a sailing vessel, of course, in the wake of Clearwater and the message that Pete Seeger gave it.

  13. Wendy Howard, from Swansea, Wales, U.K. says:

It is Remembrance Sunday here today. Heard Where Have All The Flowers Gone on the radio this morning, and whilst searching for Joan Baez on the net discovered her singing Pete’s song at his birthday concert. Serendipity! A most appropriate song for today and for all those who fought for peace.
