Great Performances is a production of THIRTEEN in association with WNET.ORG – one of America’s most prolific and respected public media providers.

Wonder rocketed to stardom at age 12 when he was signed to Motown Records as “Little Stevie Wonder”. Over nearly four decades, Wonder has reinvigorated the music scene with his unique sound, produced nine number one records and won a total of 22 Grammy Awards – and there is no end in sight for the successful superstar.

In October 2008, he returned to Europe – after over a decade – to perform to a packed house at London’s O2 Arena. Wonder, who pulls out all the hits, keeps the crowd on its feet and doesn’t miss a beat during his tour-de-force concert performance.

Stevie Wonder: Live at Last is a production of Done and Dusted in association with THIRTEEN for WNET.ORG. Hamish Hamilton is director and Stevie Wonder is producer. Rachel French is producer and Simon Pizey is executive producer, for Done and Dusted; Ray Still is executive producer for Universal Music. For Great Performances, Bill O’Donnell is series producer; David Horn is executive producer.

Great Performances is funded by the Irene Diamond Fund, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, public television viewers, and PBS.

I’m disappointed with the audio quality of this concert footage. The sound is thin. The performance is not represented well.

Don’t get lost in the audio quality, if that’s what you’re looking for go back to the original discs. If you are a Stevie fan you’ll be smiling just like everyone backing him up.

You might need to upgrade your sound system Doug, it sounded great to me, Not sure if you were watching the HD feed (the sound quality is better) but I had my sound system turned up pretty loud and Stevie, the band and background singers all sounded incredible. Stevie is on of the few living legends out there and unlike so many artists of the Motown/British invasion era, he still sounds remarkable. My Cherie Amour was recorded 40 years ago!

Why is this concert being aired tonight?! What happened to the third episode of Wallander? Talk about a disappointment!

#5

Oops, my bad…looked at the schedule wrong. I get to watch both now. :)

#6

I loved it. I was smiling the whole time.

Greetings
When does Fayetteville NC get this show/program?

Phenomenal! What a body of work. What a performance. I grew up on this. Saw him at Madison Square Garden back in the day–Gladys Knight and the Pips opened. Maybe I’m talking from another lifetime, but where is this kind of expansive musical experience now? I long for it.

I only see one time for the airing in NYC of the Stevie Wonder concert. Surely I’m mistaken?! There are other times I can catch it this month?

#15

I am such a big stevie fan and guess what I missed everything except the last 3 songs. Just like Suzanne I would like to know if there are other times that I can catch it this month?

#16

Will this program be re-broadcasted in my area (Newton County, GA) in the near future?

Simply…The best concert performance “EVER”.
Nothing I’ve ever heard compares to Stevie Wonder & company, in this performance. His variety of sound, musicality, the unbelieveable tightness of his band and the sexiest group of female back-up singers & musicians I’ve ever seen on stage, altogether make this presentation, the “GREATEST”. A masterpiece I’ll enjoy forever!
