Eliyahu McLean of Jerusalem Peacemakers helps organize a movement called the Abrahamic Reunion, which tries to build friendships among Muslims, Christians, and Jews. He says relationships are moving forward, even if the peace process has been stalled.

I try to avoid terms that have a whiff of platitude to them. But in this case, I heartily agree with Eliyahu’s use of the word “family.” Such long-term relationships – often strained but ultimately strong – are an absolutely necessary complement to all of the pieces of paper that must be created and signed in the Middle East.
