My husband is a rough and tough guy but he can appreciate
a good quilt! He had been asking for a quilt of his own complaining I
had made a quilt for everyone else we knew except him. I knew his quilt
had to be just right - not feminine and full of flowers, like most of
my other quilts.
He likes to hunt and he likes dogs. I found a fabric
that had red labrador retrievers on it. I used that with a navy blue fabric
to form a bear's paw quilt. On the back, I used a flannel with the 1940's
pin-up girls on it. He loves it. It is "manly" while also being a reflection
of my love of quilting. He frequently brags about it and shows it off
to his hunting buddies.
