Watchtowers

Blueprint for wooden watchtowers for Auschwitz. ("K.L.," seen at top, stood for "koncentration lager," the German abbreviation for concentration camp.)

This rendering shows the three different types of watchtowers—differentiated primarily by height—that were used at Auschwitz. They were manufactured elsewhere and shipped in by train.

The smallest tower, shown at right, was the most commonly used throughout the camp.
