Barracks

Plan for artillery and prisoner barracks at Auschwitz I.

This blueprint, produced in December of 1939, is one of the earliest of Auschwitz. At the time, the Nazis had no plan to use Auschwitz as an extermination camp.

The building at the upper right was used temporarily for Polish prisoners while the barracks (far left) were cleaned and surrounded with barbed wire, creating a more usable environment for imprisonment.
